I offer horse riding lessons and coaching for both flatwork and jumping, across Surrey, Hampshire and Sussex.
How much will it cost?
I work freelance. Lessons are one to one and cost £45 for up to an hour. Spectators are very welcome.
I can also offer:
- Detailed video feedback of your lesson £15 (usually after lesson, requires electricity)
- I am able to provide coaching and support at competitions, cost by negotiation.
- Flatwork and jumping clinics, over one to four days, are available at any location, and offer the opportunity for intensive work, with daily video feedback and off-horse exercises. Cost negotiable depending on requirements, but on average around £75 per person per day.
Where?
I come to you, with lessons taking place on your own horse or pony. I cover Surrey, Hampshire and Sussex. I am willing to travel further in the UK for groups of three or more riders, cost of travel by negotiation.
Travel within 20 miles and/or 30 minutes of my home is included within the price of the lesson, further than that is charged at an additional 45 pence per mile, which can be shared between riders.
A sand school is not necessary, but any area must be safe, fairly flat and dry.
What to expect
In a coaching session, there will be lots of dialogue and I encourage you to say what you think and ask questions.
The work on your body involves me putting my hands on you and re-aligning your body in the saddle. This is with your consent and I will stop if it hurts.
I will use different ways to explain things to help you understand.
Making changes in your body is physically demanding, but I will work as hard as you. You and your horse will be able to rest whenever you need to.
My work involves taking you from your comfort zone into your stretch zone, and back again. I will not ask you to do anything that puts you or your horse in fear, although I may challenge some of your perceptions.
I will leave you with ‘homework’ and you will understand exactly how to recreate what has been learnt during the lesson.
I will make notes about what has been covered, and I encourage you to also keep a brief diary of your lessons, to help trigger your memory in between my visits.
Within reason, I am available for any questions you have in between my lesson visits.

The Small Print
Before our first lesson:
I will email or post you a New Rider Registration Form which needs to be completed before the first lesson to enable me to act appropriately in the event of an accident, and comply with the terms of my insurance.
The information you provide will always remain completely confidential.
On the Day:
Lessons go ahead in all weathers except those that present a safety risk, i.e.snow, ice, high winds, or thunder storms/TORRENTIAL rain.
Please be tacked up and ready to start at your lesson time.
Cancellation Policy:
I understand that there can be unforeseen circumstances with horses, and will endeavour to work with you should a problem arise.
It is your responsibility to check that your horse is sound before your lesson. Lessons will not go ahead on horses that are unsound or distressed.
Postponements require a minimum of 48 hours notice, with no charge if a new booking is made.
If you wish to cancel a lesson, and not make a new booking, then 48 hours notice is required. Cancellations within 48 hours of a lesson will still incur the full fee of the original lesson.
Please only make a booking if you are happy to accept and honour the 48 hour cancellation policy.
Insurance:
I am fully insured through the British Horse Society, and remain up-to-date with equine specific first aid, child protection legislation and BHS Continued Professional Development.
I am also fully CRB checked for working with children.
